On February 17, 2024, TV Japan announced on its website that the NHK Cosmomedia America-owned network (which aired news and entertainment programs sourced from various broadcasters based in Japan, primarily from public broadcaster NHK as well as commercial networks such as Tokyo Broadcasting System Television, Nippon TV, TV Tokyo, Fuji Television and TV Asahi) would cease distribution on cable and satellite providers on March 31; much of the programming featured on TV Japan migrated to the niche Japanese-language streaming service Jme, which launched on April 1.[1]
