Not to be confused with Perú TV, a former regional TV channel from Arequipa, now known as ATV Sur.

TV Perú is the Peruvian public television channel and the first in the country, founded on January 17, 1958 as an experimental channel of Ministerio de Educación del Perú with donations from UNESCO that broadcast three times a week and whose first programmes were documentaries on television and the installation of antennas.

It is the oldest Peruvian television channel next to América, Panamericana and the former Canal 9 TV El Sol.

Their programming is varied, although with more focus on culture as a public channel and is owned by the IRTP.

TV Perú was originally established on the 22nd floor of the Ministry of Education on January 17, 1958 as OAD-TV/UNESCO Canal 7 (the latter part referring to the donations the UNESCO gave to launch the station).

In 1969, with the transfer of the channel to its current headquarters in Santa Beatríz and in full military dictatorship of Juan Velasco Alvarado, it was renamed to Televisión del Estado (though it was still referred, both on-air and colloquially, as Canal 7), and the logo was a number "7" formed by figures and to the right, the word "tv" in a round typeface, all white on top of a black television screen.

In 1974, Televisión del Estado adopted the secondary name ENRAD Peru Canal 7 and their logo consisted of three white rings bordered by black with a black circle with a 7 and the word "CANAL" on its top.

With the arrival of color television in 1978, ENRAD Perú Canal 7's logo was modified, bringing back the "7" in Televisión del Estado's 1969 logo, with some changes. the word "CANAL" was above the 7. With an "TV" written near the 7, and below, the logo of ENRAD Peru on a white oval.

In January 1979, A variant of their logo was made, which consisted of "SIETE" formed by a font similar to the 7 from the previous logo. with the "T" being replaced by the 7 from the previous logo and the word "CANAL" at the top of it.

This logo, along with the previous one, were both used until June of the same year.

In June 1979, ENRAD Perú Canal 7 changed their logo again. which consisted of a blue television, with some small cuts in both left and right. The screen shows "SIETE" similar to that of the previous logo with the same 7, with "CANAL" above.

In 1980, ENRAD Perú Canal 7 changed its on-air name to simply Canal 7. Their first logo consisted of a yellow television with a red background. They are both yellow and shadowed. Even though the logo was short-lived, it is still remembered due to its scary ident.

Later that 1980, the channel was renamed again to Radio Televisión Peruana (or simply RTP) and changed their logo, now consisting of a red oval with a metallic yellow oval. inside the red oval, the letter "R" is displayed. With various divisions, they subtly form the acronym RTP.

In 1981, Radio Televisión Peruana changed their logo again. It consists of a white square with dark blue-purple border annexed to a light blue-purple striped "7". Inside the white square, the acronym "rtp" is shown in Italics and dark bluish purple.

Another logo was introduced in 1984. This logo is the same as the main one, but the "RTP" acronym is replaced by an "TV" (a bit similar to TVN Chile's logo from the 1990s) and the colors became black and white.

In 1988, TV-Perú changed their logo again. It consists of an "7" with an "TV" similar to the one from the previous logo. This served as a transition logo between "TV-Perú" and the return of "Radio Televisión Peruana".

In November 1989, TV-Perú went back to the name Radio Televisión Peruana, as the audience didn't get accostumed to the TV-Perú acronym at the time (though it would eventually become a colloquial name for the channel). It consists of a red metallic satellite with the "rtp" in a different font with an metallic yellow color. Above the "t", it displays a 8 stars-shaped glow that It emulates the reception of the signal and, below the antenna, their full name.

On July 5, 1997, with the creation of the IRTP, they definitively abandoned the name of "Radio Televisión Peruana" and was renamed "Televisión Nacional del Perú" or known by the acronym "TNP". Their first logo was a corrugated sun with seven orange-colored square stripes. underneath the sun, their acronym "TNP" is written with an red-white gradient all shaded. and below it, the name "TELEVISIÓN NACIONAL DEL PERÚ" is displayed.

On October 6, 1999, Televisión Nacional del Perú changed their logo again, along with their acronym. It consisted of the new acronym "tn" (instead of "TNP") written in golden color and in 3D surrounded by a ring with the colors red and white, all shaded. and below, their full name "TELEVISIÓN NACIONAL DEL PERÚ" is displayed.

On November 5, 2000, Televisión Nacional del Perú changed their logo again and they return to their old acronym "TNP". It consists of three squares, each with the colors red and white, the colors of the flag of Peru. with the letters "T" and "P" colored white and in the white square, the letter "N" colored red. written with gradients and shadows surrounded by a white shadow, and below them, their full name "TELEVISIÓN NACIONAL DEL PERÚ" is displayed.

In 2003, Televisión Nacional del Perú's logo was modified. It consists of the squares colored golden yellow, the letters being less narrow, with an 3D effect degraded in the "T" and the "P". and the squares become together and below, their full name is now in lowercase.

On September 25, 2006, Televisión Nacional del Perú adopted their current name "TV Perú". The reason for changing their name was because the vast majority of Peruvians called them "TV Perú" colloquially, despite the fact that the name has been discontinued since 1989.

The "TV" is gray and the "Perú" is red. Occasionally, the logo was totally gray or white.

On August 3, 2009, as part of a restructuring in the IRTP, TV Perú changed their logo again and the advertising of private companies was eliminated. only transmitting state advertising and spots (this would be preserved until the beginning of 2015).

On November 18, 2010, TV Perú slightly changed their logo. removing the gray and becoming entirely colored red, which would remain in the subsequent logos.

On May 7, 2012, TV Perú changed their logo majorly for the first time in three years (until 2019). It consisted of a representation of a red-and-white cockade and underneath, the name "TV PeRú" is written in a slightly modified Aller font. with the "e" and the "u" enlarged to be the same size as the other letters. The logo was criticized not only for resembling Target's Logo, but for referring to the Partido Nacionalista Peruano (then "Gana Perú") due to the appearance of the white ring of their logo.

Only 10 days after TV Perú changed their logo to the previous one, their logo was changed again. eliminating the logo badge after the controversy.

On the national holiday of 2013, TV Perú slightly modifies their logo. which adds the new IRTP logo to the right side of the logo separated from a gray vertical line. the appearance and spacing of the letters was slightly modified.
