TWW[]
1958-1962[]
TWW came on air on 14 January 1958. It was also known as Television Wales & West making it the first ITV station to broadcast in Wales.
1962–1968[]
Teledu Cymru[]
1962-1964 (as its own franchise); 1964-1968 (as part of TWW)[]
Teledu Cymru [Welsh for "Television Wales"] (English: Wales West and North Television) was the franchise for the North and West of Wales. It was purchased by TWW in 1964 and never to be broadcast again after the purchase. But the name and symbol continued to be used on-screen until TWW's closedown on March 3rd, 1968.
Independent Television Service for Wales & the West[]
1968[]
TWW closed down on 3 March 1968; however, its successor, Harlech Television, would be ready for broadcast only since 20 May. Because of that, the temporary Independent Television Service for Wales & the West (ITSWW), known in the former Teledu Cymru region as Independent Television Service Teledu Cymru, was created to operate the dates in between. Its ident consisted of 4 lines, which zoomed in on the screen and disappeared individually from top to bottom to reveal the name, all with electronic music. This was the solution used by the Independent Television Authority (later the Independent Broadcasting Authority), and only aired for just under 3 months.
