The Talkboy was originally introduced as a fictional tape recorder made for the 1992 film, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, in which the main protagonist, Kevin McCallister, uses it throughout the film. Later, Tiger Electronics released their model and sold it to toy shops in time for the 1992 Christmas season as a promotion of the film, and eventually became one of their most successful toys produced. Other models, such as the Deluxe Talkboy (which included the slow-motion voice changer that was heard from Home Alone 2, but not in the original model) and the Deluxe Talkgirl (which was the same model, but designed to fit for girls), would also be released afterward.
