2020 Interim
On February 28, 2020, it was announced that a Tasmanian team would join the NBL from the 2021/22 season. The team was provisionally named NBL Tasmania.
Tasmania JackJumpers
2021 Tentative
On September 4, 2020, NBL Tasmania shortlisted 5 potential names, all with Tasmania as the geographic identifier: Tridents, JackJumpers, Timbers, Pride, and Mountaineers. On October 1, the name was unveiled to be JackJumpers, along with a new logo. A jack jumper is a venomous ant species native to Australia and especially common in Tasmania.
