This color scheme started being used after the Telefónica brand was phased out from their services (in favor of the Movistar, O2 and Vivo brands) and became the corporate brand for the group, also endorsing the three main brands.
On April 23, 2021, at the 2021 General Shareholders' Meeting, the president of Telefónica, José María Álvarez-Pallete, presented the new logo in homage to the company's image in the 80s.
