Known as Sonera until 2017, Telia is the largest telecommunications company in Finland, followed by Elisa and DNA.

The original Post and Telegraph Agency was owned by the Finnish state and held a monopoly in 1994. It adopted the Sonera name in 1998. It merged with Telia of Sweden in 2003 to form TeliaSonera, which was renamed to Telia Company in 2016. Subsequently, most local brands in the Nordics and Baltics, with the exception of LMT in Latvia, were replaced by the Telia brand.
