Prior to privatisation, Network SouthEast was divided into eleven separate companies. One of which was named Thames Trains. Go-ahead was awarded the Thames franchise in 1996.
First Great Western Link
In 2004, the franchise was transferred to FirstGroup in preparation for the merger of the franchise with the InterCity Great Western franchise which eventually happened in 2006 when the merged franchises became the Greater Western franchise.
