Thameslink was one of the last parts of the former British Rail to be privatised.
Before independence
Prior to privatisation, Network SouthEast was divided into eleven separate companies. One of which was named Thamelink. The logo used would briefly be used by the privatised company.

In 2006, the Thameslink franchise merged with the Great Northern franchise to become the Greater Thameslink franchise.
