In June 2013, Sony announced a third Amazing Spider-Man film with a release date of June 10, 2016 but it was cancelled due to the controversial Sony Hack of 2014. After that, Sony and Marvel have made a deal to bring the character into Marvel Studios' Marvel Cinematic Universe films and made a reboot of the franchise with the actor Tom Holland with his appearance in several movies (and with his third solo movie, Spider-Man: No Way Home having the return of Andrew Garfield in the role of Spider-Man and also of Jamie Foxx as the villain Electro from The Amazing Spider-Man 2).
The film's logo was revealed by Sony at the 2014 Licensing Expo in Las Vegas.
