The Daily Show is an American late-night talk and satirical news television programme on Comedy Central created by Madeleine Smithberg and Lizz Winstead. First hosted by Craig Kilborn in 1996, second by Jon Stewart in 1998, third by Trevor Noah in 2015 and currently hosted by Jon Stewart and rotating guest hosts/correspondent in 2023.

The half-hour-long show hosted by Kilborn premiered in July 22, 1996, it was served as a replacement for Politically Incorrect.

August–December 1998[]

On December 17, 1998, Craig Kilborn announces his retirement from The Daily Show to host The Late Late Show, which at the time was hosted by Tom Snyder.

1999–August 2015[]

On January 11, 1999, comedian Jon Stewart took over as the show's second host, which the show retitled to The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. During his time, Stewart brought a sharper political focus to the humor the show previously exhibited, making the show much more focused on politics and election news with InDecision, a title parody of NBC News' Decision.

On February 10, 2015, it was announced by Stewart that he will leave the show later in the year. Around months later on August 6, 2015, Stewart's final episode would be broadcasted as a hour-long special.

The logo is the same as the one used in 1998, but with additional slanted blue strap below the logo with the word "WITH JON STEWART".

September 2015–2021[]

On September 28, 2015, South African comedian Trevor Noah took over as the show's third host, which the show again retitled to The Daily Show with Trevor Noah.

Troika Design Group would rebrand the show's look by redesigning the logo, modernizing it with a new font; Akzidenz Grotesk Pro.

2021–2022[]

On September 13, 2021, The Daily Show with Trevor Noah returned with a new look and new logo.

On September 29, 2022, during the taping, it was announced by Noah that he will leave The Daily Show on December 8, so he could focus on his stand-up carrer and touring as a whole. Three months later, on December 8, 2022, Trevor's final episode would be broadcasted.

2023–present[]

On December 6, 2022, two days before Noah's final episode; it was announced that the show will be ran by celebrity guest hosts along with current and former correspondents.

Two years later on February 12, 2024, Jon Stewart would return to The Daily Show after sixteen years for Monday-nights-only shows, while the remaining four days will be hosted by the correspondents.

For the first time in 26 years, they have dropped "WITH [name]" off from the logo.
