The Weakest Link is a BBC gameshow hosted by Anne Robinson (Romesh Ranganathan from 2021). It was first broadcast on 1 August 2000, the programme was cancelled after 1693 episodes on 31 March 2012.
The programme's surprise success was mostly down to Robinson's sarcastic and acerbic style of hosting, which, although it was toned down in later years, was a hallmark of the programme. The Weakest Link is now the world's second most popular game show franchise, behind only Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?.
