The Weather Channel was originally launched on May 2, 1982.

The Weather Channel updated its logo in 1996. The URL "weather.com" was added below in 1999.
2005–present[]

On August 15, 2005, a new logo and on-air look was introduced, designed by the British branding agency Lambie-Nairn.
Since 2016, despite the cable channel now being owned by Entertainment Studios (since 2018), the majority of The Weather Channel's digital assets, their domain "weather.com", their former parent company (now The Weather Company), and their former parent's assets are now owned by IBM, who also owns The Weather Channel name and logo, but licenses the branding and weather data out to Entertainment Studios.
