Due to bankruptcy, Toys "R" Us closed all of its 100 UK stores for good on 24 April 2018, before closing 735 in the United States. It relaunched as an online store on 25 September 2022 before confirming a partnership with WHSmith to include a Toys "R" Us section in selected stores, similar to Macy's partnership in the United States. The brand returned to the UK in 2023 with Toys "R" Us locations inside nine WHSmith stores, and 39 more stores in 2024. As of July 2025, the brand operates 90 locations across the country.
