The Travel Channel launched on February 1, 1987, under the ownership of Trans World Airlines. The name was derived from travel-related filler programming broadcast on premium cable channel Home Theater Network. TWA purchased the rights to the Travel Channel name from HTN owner Group W Satellite Communications in 1986, and the Travel Channel took over HTN's satellite transponder position after that network ceased operations in January 1987. This logo was used before Discovery Communications bought the channel.

Introduced after Discovery's purchase, this logo is very similar to the one used by Discovery Channel at the time.

1999–2002

1999–2000

The logo was given new but similar fonts in the late 1990s.

2000–2002

In 2000, the logo's color scheme was changed.

2002–2006

A new look for Travel Channel was unveiled for "Beach Week" in March 2002. the font changed to Trebuchet MS.

2006–2007

A logo featuring a stylized orange "T" was later adopted. The "Channel" became all lowercase in the Trebuchet MS font.

2007–2008

After Discovery sold Travel Channel, Discovery's globe was replaced by a globe.

2008–2010

After another modification, the font was changed, and the "T" was slightly altered.

2010–2011

In 2010, the globe was retired and the name was moved to the right side.

On April 22, 2013, Travel Channel adopted the international logo.

2014–2018

In 2014, the 2D logos were removed in favor of a 3D logo, and new on-screen animations were seen soon after.

2018–present

On October 1, 2018, Travel Channel updated its logo stylized as Trvl Channel and shifted its programming to focus on "the paranormal, the unsolved, the creepy and terrifying", akin to its counterpart Destination America when they drifted to paranormal programming themselves full-time in mid-2017. This was also to coincide with the channel being sold back to Discovery Inc., since the channel was previously owned by Scripps Networks Interactive, and Scripps was sold to Discovery in 2018. This logo is designed by Primal Screen.
