TrueMove H is the second-largest mobile network operator in Thailand by subscribers, behind AIS and ahead of dtac. It is owned by True Corporation, a subsidiary of the Charoen Pokphand Group, Thailand’s largest business conglomerate.
In 2000, Charoen Pokphand acquired Wireless Communication Services Co., Ltd. (WCS) in order to start a mobile network on the 1800MHz frequency. WCS entered into a partnership with France Télécom in 2001; it was renamed to CP Orange and later to TA Orange, the name under which it started operations in 2002.
Orange (France Télécom) exited the joint venture in 2004, selling its stake to TelecomAsia Corp. (now True Corporation); the Orange brand continued until 2006.
TA Orange rebranded to TrueMove in 2006 to coincide with TelecomAsia’s rebranding to True Corporation.
