In 2013, the same year Tumblr got bought by Yahoo!, Tumblr updated its logo, with a flat typeface.

In 2018, Tumblr introduced a new contemporary typeface, with the removal of the period at the end, and a bolder blue and white color scheme.
In 2019, Tumblr was sold from Verizon Media to Automattic.
In 2021, a newly designed 't' icon for the iOS and Android apps were made, accompanied by a new matching 'Goth Rave' color palette.
