1997–2001[]

The UKTV network was launched on 1 November 1997 when the preexisting UK Gold channel was joined by UK Style, UK Horizons and UK Arena. UKTV's original design was created by Lambie-Nairn, based on the BBC redesign from the previous month.

Between November 2000 and May 2001, UKTV received an updated look by Lambie-Nairn on 7 May 2001.

2004–2009[]

On 8 March 2004, UKTV was relaunched with all its channels changing the prefix in their name from "UK" to "UKTV". The rebranding was done by Dunning Eley Jones, whose founders had worked on the network's previous identity.

The logo was modified largely in 2017. On 11 June 2019, Discovery, Inc. took full control of Good Food, Home, and Really. BBC Studios took full control of the rest of the UKTV channels on the same day.

On 29 November 2023, UKTV announced its intention to launch 'U' - a new masterbrand that will unite its family of free-to-air channels and its streaming service in 2024.

Launched on 16 July 2024, the move saw its current streaming service UKTV Play transition to U and UKTV's family of free-to-air channels becoming U&Dave, U&Drama, U&W and U&Yesterday. Its pay channels will transition to U&Alibi, U&Eden and U&Gold on 7 November. For the corporate level, UKTV logo was radically changed for the first time in 11 years to reflect the new 'U' masterbrand.
