UTV Motion Pictures is the film division of UTV Software Communications, an Indian media company founded in 1996. In January 2012, UTV became a wholly owned subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company.

In September 24 2010, UTV Motion Pictures unveiled a new logo and brand identity as part of a larger, company-wide rebranding effort for its parent company, UTV Software Communications. The new logo first appeared on films that year and was used until 2017.

UTV Motion Pictures discontinued its domestic film production in 14 July 2017, after the release of Jagga Jasoos. Disney shut down the production side to focus on its other businesses, such as Hollywood film distribution, television, and licensing in India. UTV now operates primarily as a distribution label for Disney's films in India.

In August 2025, When Star Studios and Viacom18 Studios merged into Star Studio18, The letter ''T'' started using UTV's red, green and blue horizontal lines on the top.
