2004-2010
The first version of Ubuntu was released on 20th October 2004, with this logo. The logo is meant to symbolise freedom, collaboration, precision and reliability.
2010-present
The new logo was released alongside Ubuntu Lucid Lynx (10.04). It puts the graphical part of the previous logo in a circle, and changes the typeface to 'ubuntu'.
