Uni-Mart was founded in 1972 by Henry Sahakian as the franchisor of Majik Market stores in Pennsylvania, Delaware, and New Jersey. With enough capital to go his own way, he prematurely ended the 20-year franchise agreement with Munford, Inc. and began opening stores under his own name, Uni-Mart. The symbol mimics the curves of the Majik Market logo, striped in the colors of the Armenian flag.
