VRT is the public broadcaster of Flanders, the Dutch-speaking part of Belgium. It operates three TV channels and several radio stations, none of which uses the parent VRT brand directly (unlike with most European public broadcasters). It adopted its current name in 1998, before which it was called BRTN.
Belgium has two other public broadcasters: RTBF for the French Community, and BRF for the small German Community.

A new logo and corporate identity were introduced in 2017 with the unveiling of VRT NU, the broadcaster’s video-on-demand service. The rest of the organisation adopted it in June, and the Het Journaal newscast in May 2018. However, it is not used by the TV and radio stations themselves. Forma DJR is the corporate typeface used in all applications.
