VTV6 2007-2012

VTV6 was launched on 29 April 2007, as a youth-oriented channel, it consists of VTV's logo and a swirl resembling a numeral six.

Following VTV's brand refresh on January 1, 2013, VTV6 rebranded with a new logo, though the 2012 idents (which contained the previous logos) and other presentations were kept until 2014 where at this point the new idents (which have this logo) were introduced.

Since 2015, VTV6 became a sports channel, today broadcasting the Olympic Games (both Summer and Winter), The FIFA World Cup, and Vietnamese sports competitions like V-league 1 and 2, and Asian competitions Vietnam take part in like the AFF Championship. Most sports programmes from VTV3 were now moved to this channel.

VTV announced that due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Vietnam, VTV6 and most of its sister channels (like VTV3) will cut their broadcast time to 20 hours (5 am-12 am) starting from 19 March 2020. On 1 May 2020, the channel's broadcast time went back to 24 hours.

On October 10, 2022 VTV6 was replaced by VTV Cần Thơ and is a regional channel aimed at Mekong Delta Region audiences due to the Youth Department is no longer part of the system of departments and divisions of Vietnam Television as of Decree No. 60/2022/ND-CP. The testing period lasted three days until it was officially launched on 13 October 2022, becoming the first VTV-owned channel (and region) to be revived after VTV Cần Thơ 1 closed in 2016.
