Sportkanalen Sweden[]

1996[]

Sportkanalen (in Sweden was spelled without S unlike its Norwegian and Danish counterpart) was launched as a Swedish sport channel in March 1996 sharing the same frequency and channel slot with TV6 Sweden and the new shopping channel TVG. ZTV Sweden was separated from TV6 Sweden as an independent channel, which launched the previous year together with TV6 Sweden on satellite. The schedule was TV6 during the day and the evening, and TVG during the night, and Sportkanalen on the weekends.

In December 1996 Kinnevik decided to closedown Sportkanalen Sweden as the last of the three sport channels (Sportskanalen Norway and Sportskanalen Denmark) due to low viewership and struggle to maintain all 3 channels in one channel slot.

Viasat Sport 24 was rebranded as Viasat Golf in 2007 as a pan-Nordic channel due to low viewership.
