The name "Valve" was chosen out of thirty different options suggested by The Leonhardt Group, including names like "Hollow Box" and "Squid". Designer Ray Ueno chose to shrink the letter E in the logo as to not have it be misread as "Value". [1] As of 2018, this logo is still used as an alternative logo, appearing on older websites and the credits of Half-Life: Alyx and Aperture Desk Job.
