Vaxzevria (formerly known as COVID-19 Vaccine AstraZeneca internationally, and marketed and sold in India as Covishield) was a COVID-19 vaccine brand produced by Oxford University and AstraZeneca. It was first launched in 2020, but was given the Vaxzevria name in 2021. On May 7, 2024, AstraZeneca withdrew and discontinued production of the vaccine along with its marketing authorizations for the drug worldwide, citing low demand after admitting the vaccine causes blood clots.
