On October 8, 1994, it was announced that the company would leave the public broadcasting space to become a commercial broadcaster under the Holland Media Group, a partnership between them, CLT, and Endemol, which had already provided some of its programming. This was because, according to then-chairman Joop van der Reijden, that they would have “less to say on radio and TV within 5 years”. This came to effect at the start of September 1995, and as such, they changed their name to Vereniging Veronica.

In the early 2000s, Veronica would become a supplier for news and information.

On October 3, 2024, the company was converted into Stichting Veronica.
