Viettel is the biggest telecommunications company in Vietnam. A state-owned enterprise owned by the Vietnamese Ministry of Defence, it is a multinational company with operations in eleven countries across Southeast Asia, Central and Eastern Africa and Latin America.
Its domestic competitors include Vinaphone, MobiFone and the privately-owned Vietnamobile.
