The Virtual Boy was pulled from production only five months after its release due to complaints that people who played the headset/console hybrid ended up with nauseous headaches, dizziness, and eyesores afterward, along with its video game graphics only using two colors—red and black (primarily due to cost and technology limitations)—making it one of the worst video game console commercial failures of all time. On September 12, 2025, Nintendo announced Virtual Boy games would be coming to the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 via Nintendo Switch Online's Expansion Pack, an accessory replicating the Virtual Boy headset (or a cheaper, cardboard model) would be recommended for play.
