In November 2010, MTV Networks announced that VIVA would be relaunched in January 2011 with a new look and a new logo. At the same time, the German version of MTV would be turned into a pay-TV channel. The new-look was created in-house at MTV Networks Germany.

Due to the decreasing viewership of the channel, on October 17, 2017, Viva Polska was replaced by the Polish version of MTV Music. The German version was closed on December 31, 2018, and its slot was fully taken by the German version of Comedy Central, which the channel had a timeshare with since 2014.
