On May 17, 2023, WADL owner Adell Broadcasting filed plans to sell the station to Mission Broadcasting, who will contract to Nexstar Media Group for station operations. In August 2023, the station announced on its website that on September 1, it would become a primary affiliate of the Nexstar-owned The CW (replacing WKBD-TV), with MyNetworkTV being retained on a secondary basis.
On October 30, 2023, due to a dispute between Adell and Nexstar, WADL dropped The CW and returned to being a full-time MyNetworkTV affiliate.[1]
