On December 1, 1995, WPTY became an ABC affiliate, swapping affiliations with WHBQ-TV; On October 4,1999 the station also added a secondary affiliation with The WB, carrying that network's programming from 11pm to 1am on nights when the network offered programming.Prior to WPTY adding a secondary affiliation with The WB, Memphis residents got The WB from the National Superstation Feed of WGN-TV as well as a special feed created by Time Warner Communicationx, TV Memphis. WLMT would pick up WB Programming in the Fall of 2003.

On June 1, 2013, WPTY changed its call letters to WATN-TV and its branding to "Local 24". Along with the change of the call sign, the station (along with its own sister stations WLMT & WJKT) moved to new facility in northeast Memphis, TN and debuted a new set and graphics.
