On December 1, 1995, WPTY became an ABC affiliate, swapping affiliations with WHBQ-TV; the station also added a secondary affiliation with The WB, carrying that network's programming from 11:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. on nights when the network offered programming.
On June 1, 2013, WPTY changed it's call letters to WATN-TV and it's branding to "ABC Local 24". Along with the change, the station (along with sister stations WLMT and WJKT) moved to new facility in Northeast Memphis and debuted a new set and new graphics.
