For a time, WMEN was the prevailing country station in the Tallahassee market, but began losing ground to WOMA in the early 1970s as FM radio increased in popularity.

WMEN relaunched as a member of the NBC News and Information Service on September 29, 1975. After only less than a year under an all-news format, the station went silent in May 1976.
