In 1997, Allbritton Communications Company and ABC made an affiliation deal, which also involved the affiliation of WBSG-TV (now WPXC-TV). As of result, a new station called WJXX was created to allow Jacksonville viewers to watch ABC, and WJKS became an affiliate of The WB on April 1, 1997, changing its call letters to WJWB in the process.

WCWJ
2006–2018
WJWB became an affiliate of The CW in 2006, changing its call letters to WCWJ. In October 2007, Media General sold WCWJ to the Nexstar Media Group; then sold to the Graham Media Group alongside WSLS-TV in Roanoke more than a decade later; as part of the station divestitures required as a result of Nexstar's pending acquisition of Media General.
