WHAG-TV[]
1970–1976[]
The station signed on January 3, 1970 as WHAG-TV. The station was owned by Warren Adler alonside WHAG radio (AM 1410 and FM 96.7, now WDLD) and was a NBC affiliate, which covered areas where network-owned WRC-TV (channel 4) couldn't reach at that time. Adler sold WHAG-TV to Sheldon and Samuel Magazine in 1973.
1976–1982[]
In 1977, the Magazine brothers sold the station to local aviation pioneer Richard Henson in 1977. Henson later sold the station to Great Trails Broadcasting in 1981.

In 1998, Great Trails sold their broadcasting assets, including WHAG to Quorum Boradcasting.
1998–2010[]
Nexstar Broadcasting Group acquired Quorum Broadcasting on December 31, 2001.

NBC confirmed to The Herald-Mail that it was declining its affiliation with WHAG on February 19, 2016. A factor for this decision was due to percieved competition from WRC and the network taking a one in each market approach for rating purposes.
2016–2017[]
On July 1 of that same year, WHAG became an independent station and began airing several Heroes & Icons programs.
WDVM-TV[]
2017–2022[]
On July 1, 2017, the station's call sign was changed to WDVM-TV — a callsign used on WUSA (channel 9) in Washington, D.C. from 1978 to 1986.
2022-present[]
On May 25, 2022, Nexstar announced plans to merge WDVM’s news operation with WDCW (channel 50) to create DC News Now.
