WD_BLACK is a gaming sub-brand of Western Digital. It was originally part of Western Digital's line of performance hard disk drives (WD Black is placed as higher end, followed by WD Purple, WD Blue and WD Green), until it became a sub-brand specifically used for gaming in 2019 and expanding its lineup to consumer gaming solid state drives for PCs and consoles such as PlayStation and Xbox.
