1966–1968
WFLD first signed on Tuesday, January 4, 1966, as an independent station owned by Field Communications, a subsidiary of Field Enterprises, and was originally the parent company of the Chicago Sun-Times.
1968–1972
1972–1977
Kaiser Broadcasting took control of WFLD after Field sold controlling interest to them in May 1972, which by then the deal was completed in July 1973.

1977–1983
Field Communications regained control of WFLD in 1977 when Kaiser Broadcasting was merged into Field Enterprises. This logo design was shared with its sister stations at the time.
1983–1986

Field put all of its stations up for sale in 1982, which then sold all of its stations except WKBS-TV as part of its liquidation. In September of that year, Field sold WFLD as part of its liquidation, which went to Metromedia after completing the deal in March 1983.
1986–1987
In May 1985, Metromedia sold all of its independent stations (including WFLD) to News Corporation, who announced its intentions to launch the then-new Fox on May 7, 1986, with KTTV, KDAF, KRIV, WNYW and WTTG forming what would become Fox Television Stations.
1987–1993
On Sunday, April 5, 1987, WFLD, along with most Fox affiliates at the time, launched its primetime lineup, although it continued to be programmed as an independent station until the network began to debut additional nights of programming on weekends early on in September 1993.
1993
In 1993, WFLD visually de-emphasized the use of references to channel 32, which became simply known as Fox Chicago. Similarly in 1995, WTXF-TV would perform the same de-emphasis on references to channel number 29, which would later be reverted back in 2003, however in the case of WFLD, it was short-lived until 1994.

In 1994, WFLD changed its branding to Fox Thirty-Two with the channel number being spelled as a hyphened word.
1997–2006

In 1997, WFLD reverted back to its old branding Fox Chicago, which was previously short-lived from 1993 to 1994.
2006–2012
This logo branding are currently in use by most of its sister stations, is based on the Fox News Channel logo.
2012–present

After 20 years of branding as Fox Chicago with under some capacity, WFLD reverted back to the former Fox 32 branding on November 12, 2012. The logo was updated to match with its sister stations as a result.
