WFCT-TV 1992

The station signed on during March of 1985 as an independent station known as WFCT. The station was originally licensed to Fayetteville and was owned by Fayetteville/Cumberland Telecasters. In 1989, the station relayed then-NBC affiliate WPTF-TV (channel 28, currently a MyNetworkTV affiliate as WRDC) as it tower collapsed in an ice storm.

In 1994, the station became a Fox affiliate, serving areas where its then-affiliate WLFL (channel 22, currently a CW affiliate) couldn't reach properly.

In 1998, the station was acquired by Paxson Communcations and became WFPX-TV as the station became a satellite of WRPX-TV (channel 47).
