WFUN-LD originally signed on as W27AQ (UHF channel 27), one of the translators for when CBS station WCIX (VHF channel 6, now WFOR-TV on channel 4) served areas of Broward County that its Homestead-based transmitter could not reach. In the immediate wake of Hurricane Andrew, which caused the collapse of the tower, W27AQ remained on the air as WCIX's only broadcast signal.

1995–1998[]

WTVJ 2

After WCIX swapped channels with WTVJ on September 10, 1995, W27AQ remained with the channel 6 facility until it ceased rebroadcasting NBC programming from WTVJ in June 1998.
