Paramount Pictures purchased a stake in TVX in two phases from 1989 to 1991, which would later become the Paramount Stations Group. They later sold WLFL to the Sinclair Broadcast Group in 1994, but it remained a Fox affiliate.

In August 1998, the station became the area's affiliate for The WB as part of a group deal between the network and Sinclair. Previous WB affiliate WRAZ switched to Fox.
