In 1980, WTZH converted from operating as a satellite of Tupelo NBC affiliate WTVA into a standalone CBS affiliate, assuming the local affiliation rights from WTOK-TV. The move displaced NBC from the Meridian market until WLBM (now WGBC) signed on in 1982.
