WMCC-TV[]
1984–1988[]
The station first signed on the air on November 1, 1987, as WMCC-TV. Founded by G. J. Robinson, it originally operated as an independent station; it ran mostly paid programming, but slowly added classic sitcoms, cartoons and older movies.

WNDY-TV[]
WMCC was sold for $10 million to Wabash Valley Broadcasting (making it a sister station to WTHI-AM-FM-TV in Terre Haute, WFTX-TV in Cape Coral, FL; and WOGX in Ocala, FL), a company owned by the Hulman-George family, the longtime owners of Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The new owners changed channel 23's call letters to WNDY-TV on January 9, 1995.
1995–1998[]
With the callsign change, Wabash Valley Broadcasting rebranded the station to "INDY-TV"; the station also began using a checkered flag as part of its logo – a nod to the Speedway and its signature Indianapolis 500 race, which covered the left diagonal line of the "W" in the calls. WNDY-TV became a WB affiliate upon its launch on January 11, 1995.
The Hulman-George family decided to sell WNDY-TV in 1997, with the Paramount Stations Group (now CBS News and Stations) being the highest bidder, which purchased the station for $35 million in October 1997.
1998–2000[]
WNDY-TV, following its acquisition by Paramount Stations Group, swapped affiliations with WTTV and became a UPN station in April 1998, with WTTV taking the WB affiliation per a group agreement with that station's owner at the time, Sinclair Broadcast Group.

2006–present[]
WNDY-TV became a MyNetworkTV affiliate on September 5, 2006.
