1983-2000[]
In 1983, WWVU-TV was transferred from the West Virginia Board of Regents to the West Virginia Educational Broadcasting Authority, placing it in the same hands as WPBY-TV and WSWP-TV. To reflect this change, the station received new call letters and rebranded itself as WNPB-TV.
West Virginia Public Television[]
1996–2000[]
In the 1990s, the West Virginia Educational Broadcasting Authority was moved to consolidate its PBS member stations in response to budget cuts. Utilizing a microwave link, WNPB and WSWP effectively became repeaters of WPBY, with the same presentation and program feed. The primary branding of all three stations was changed to "West Virginia Public Television" or WVPTV; however, the WNPB logo continued to see secondary use as a station ID.

The WNPB callsign is still used on station IDs and promos.
