Originally an ABC affiliate; WSBA-TV launched as the second commercially-licensed UHF station in the United States on December 21, 1952. It was originally owned by the Susquehanna Radio Corporation, a subsidiary of the Susquehanna Pfaltzgraff conglomerate, along with radio station WSBA 910.

The station became a CBS affiliate in 1963 and joined WHP-TV (channel 21) in Harrisburg and WLYH-TV (channel 15) in Lebanon to form the Keystone Network.

WPMT[]
Susquehanna sold channel 43 to Mohawk Broadcasting in April 1983, then changed its call letters to the current WPMT. Channel 43 went off the air in August of that year, and relaunched the following month as general independent station, the first in the Susquehanna Valley.

Mohawk sold WPMT to Renaissance Broadcasting in 1986; it became one of the charter affiliates of Fox when it launched on October 9 of that year.
