Following the announcement of the shutdown of UPN (whose programming would be merged with The WB to form The CW), all Fox-owned UPN stations, including WPWR-TV, dropped all UPN references from their on-air branding. WPWR changed its branding to "Power 50 Chicago" (in reference to the station callsign), and adopted a new logo.

2016–2019
WPWR-TV affiliated with The CW on September 1, 2016, but continued to air MyNetworkTV programming.
On September 1, 2019, WCIU-TV became the new affiliate of The CW for the Chicago area; after three years, WPWR-TV disaffiliated from the network.[1]
