WSB-TV originally signed on the air on September 29, 1948 on VHF channel 8 as a primary NBC affiliate and secondary ABC affiliate; it is the flagship station of Cox Media Group since its inception. It was the first television station in Atlanta, Georgia, and the 36th of the nation.
1951–1962[]
On September 30, 1951, WSB-TV switched to VHF channel 2 and the complete affiliation with NBC; giving to WLTV channel 8 the ABC affiliate, which switched to channel 11 and changed the call letters two years later.
1962–1970[]
1970–1986[]
During this logo's run, WSB-TV switched back to ABC on September 1, 1980 with WXIA-TV.

The "2" in this logo has been used since 1986, undergoing a few secondary design changes since.
