Channel 26 signed on September 24, 1984, as WJKA, a CBS affiliate. Originally owned by Wilmington Telecasters, it was the first full CBS affiliate in Wilmington. The logo has been the only logo the station has used under that callsign and CBS affiliation.
WSFX-TV[]
WJKA, along with sister station and ABC affiliate KECY-TV in Yuma, AZ, switched their affiliations to Fox in 1994; shortly after CBS lost broadcasting rights of the NFL's National Football Conference to Fox and before the inaugural season of the Carolina Panthers the following year. On September 18 of that year, WJKA became the current WSFX-TV. The current call letters stand for SuperFoX, referring to its on-air name at the time and relatively wide coverage area.
1994–1996[]
In 1994, the station switched its affiliation from CBS to Fox and changed its call letters to WSFX-TV.
