WSPD-TV became WTVG on October 1, 1979. The station kept its 1977 logo, albeit unlined.
The "13 Strong" branding was carried over as well, being used until 1984.
The logo design was also used by then-sister station WJ(K)W-TV.
In October 1995, WTVG changed its affiliation from NBC to ABC following its acquisition by the latter network's parent company, Capital Cities/ABC (which merged with The Walt Disney Company the following year) from SJL Broadcasting, the NBC affiliation moved to WNWO-TV.
Black & White version
A nearly-identical logo was used by then-sister station KTRK-TV in Houston during this time.
The logo is now identical to fellow ABC affiliate WHAM-TV since 2010, minus the callsign.
In 2011, Disney sold the station back to SJL Broadcasting.
