On June 11, 2018, WVPT's longtime owner, Shenandoah Valley Educational Television Corporation, merged with Commonwealth Public Broadcasting Corporation, owner of Richmond PBS station WCVE-TV. WVPT then adopted a logo similar to that of WCVE.
2019–present[]
On August 15, 2019, Commonwealth Public Broadcasting rebranded all of its stations as "VPM" (Virginia Public Media). On that date, WVPT rebranded as "VPM PBS," and became a full-time satellite of WCVE.
