In 2001, First Union merged with Wachovia. A trademark was filed for this design on February 26, but was not unveiled until March 14, 2002. Despite this, it did not begin rolling out heavily until November.
On December 31, 2008, Wachovia was bought by Wells Fargo. All former Wachovia branches were converted to Wells Fargo by October 15, 2011.
